Command Line Processor

The Command Line Processor (CLP) is automatically installed with all DB2 products. You can use the CLP to:

  • Issue SQL statements and DB2 commands.
  • Maintain a history file.
  • Redirect the output of requests.
  • Access both local and remote databases.
  • Request command syntax help for DB2 utilities.
  • Request message help for DB2 messages.

The CLP lets you access and manipulate databases from the system command prompt, shell scripts (for UNIX-based platforms), and command files (for OS/2 and Windows platforms).

DB2 commands let you perform many database management functions. The following is just a sampling of the commands available through the CLP:

db2 -command:
